No more home games for 9 months. It's been an exciting year - an up and down year for sure. Nice to end it on an up note, but sad at what might have been with the two losses to UWG and SAU - games we should have/could have won. But I guess that is why they play the games.

Hats off to coach Wallace and his staff - they put an exciting team on the field this year and we were competitive in just about every game. Just goes to show that it's a very fine line between winning and losing - a very fine line.

My new mind set is to not even worry about defense and just enjoy the offensive explosion - we are up to about 430 yards of total offense.

Laurence Samuels, one of our HOF inductees, said the game reminded him of an Arena Football League game - lots of offense and not so much defense. Well, what to say? This game is between 2 Jekyll and Hyde teams. Both teams have shown flashes of brilliance and flashes of.....well, let's just say less than brialliance. UWA is 2 field goals shy of being in the hunt for a playoff berth. OBU beat 2 of the better teams in the GSC before going into a 3 game tailspin in the conference. So, what teams will show up today? Time will tell. Can the Tigers salvage a once promising season? With UNA looming large next weekend, this game is their best chance to secure a winning season.

What a complete game that was

Great job by the staff to prepare the team and great job by the team executing a solid game plan. Both sides of the ball played well and special teams did a nice job as well - no really big plays agains the special teams tonight.

The team is really playing well and will be tested next week on the road against an improving UWG team. THis was as well a played game as I have seen in a while - at least since last week's great game agains Delta State.

Teams are in the dressing rooms going over last minute preparations. It's getting colder outside - just opened the windows in the press box and the wind is coming in colder and colder. Not much breeze on the field so that is good.

Sparse crowd so far. Cold temps and Auburn and the Tide on TV will likely keep the crowd down tonight.

On the cullinary side, Chester's fried chicken and Andy's Home Plate banana pudding are the top items on the menu tonight. Good groceries folks!!

45' to kick-off

Getting to be that time again. Big ? in my mind - can we corrall Scott Buisson. The fleet footed QB has given us fits in the past - with both his arms and his legs. One of the keys tonight will be to try and keep him under control. He can break a close game wide open with one play. Our D will have to do a good job on him if we expect to prevail tonight.

We also need to do a good job on kick coverage. It has been spotty at times this year and we don't need to give Buisson a short field to work his magic. I'd be happy if we could control the ball and keep him off the field.

We'll see.

what's next

This game should give the Tigers some confidence going into next week's game Ark Monticello.

WE just intercepted a pass but there is a flag on the play.

Monticello killed West Georgia on Thursday so they will be formidable but who knows. No one thought we could win this game, yours truly included. I will not be so ready to doubt the power of the Tiger next time around.

It's been an unbleievable first half. We have done almost nothing wrong and taken advantage of every break and made some of our own. An almost flawless performance by the O, the D and the special teams.

Being a nervous sort, I am worried that MO may change sides in the 2nd half. I guess I'll just be a worry wart and keep my fingers crossed that we can keep playing the way we have. Now I know why Bobby Wallace won those championships and was able to beat West Virginia and Rutgers while he was at Temple. He really has a great game plan going out there. Delta's D seems befuddled and back on their heels - not really knowing what is coming. Their D has to be wearing down a little bit - or a lot - and I hope we can get a couple more long drives in the 3rd quarter to keep that process going.

is lining up for the national anthem. Glenn Smith said he wants 150 kids next year - an increase of about 40 kids over this year's band. I hope he can get that many.

So, what's the deal tonight? What does the evening hold for the Tiger footballers? Will they follow up the VB team's victory this morning? Will some of our injured guys be back tonight? I hear Deon has recovered and will be playing. We'll surely need as many of our starters as possible if we are to hang with the Statesmen. They are a VERY good team and looking for some lost respect after losing to OBU.

We are going to need a strong effort from the defense if we are going to stay in the game - DSU's offense is potent - they can score from anywhere, they can run it and they can pass it.

Their D is pretty strong as well. If we can generate a bit of a running attack, I think we can mix runs and passes well enough to score some. We ABSOLUTELY must cut down, if not totally eliminate turnovers. They killed us last week - just killed us. We kept them in the game and in the lead with our TO's. Even when we were coming back in the 4th quarter, a fumble was returned for a TD and that put the nail in our coffin. Ball Security is a big key tonight.

Some nice plays by the Tigers but they never gave themselves a chance - they dug too deep of a hole in the first half - couldn't stop LU and too many turnovers kept us from staying in the game. Kept making turnovers all game long and that really killed us.

Want some more bad news? Next on the schedule is Delta State at Tiger Stadium. DSU just drilled Valdosta on the weekly TV game. The Tigers need to rebound in a big way for this coming weekend's game.

I don't know the most points that UWA has ever given up but we must be getting close to that now. 58 and counting. LU is likely to just run the ball and run some clock but if we keep fumbling they may not be able to keep the score down. This is the most points given up during Coach Wallace's tenure at UWA. 49 was the previous high.

I don't know if more men on the line of scrimmage is an adjustment or not, but it really put some pressure on their QB - something we need to keep doing.

IF WE CAN....

We need some help to get back into this game. IF we can get a couple of turnovers - and not the peach kind - plus a good sustained drive to keep our D off the field for a while, maybe we can make a game of this.

We haven't been able to make any take aways yet in this game - Lambuth really looks like a sound, solid, well-coached group. We have had some success moving the ball but no success in getting it across the goal line. We need to improve on that part of the game for sure in the 2nd half. A couple of big WHAT IF'S in the first half. What if we don't fumble in their end zone and what if Terry Allen doesn't drop a wide open pass over the middle as we are driving deep in their territory. A couple of almost big plays for the TIGERS.

Mostly I think we need to start playing better on both lines - better run blocking and more of a pass rush - we got one sack but other than that, not much pressure at all on a fine QB from Lambuth.

We'll see what the coaches can come up with at half time - what kinds of adjustments they can make. One thing I know for sure it it wasn't coaches who fumbled or dropped a key pass. Players need to make plays - all the coaches can do is put them in position to make the plays.
